Why I Became An Optician

I went to college and like so many others I didn’t really know what I wanted to do.  Eventually I fell into an accounting program.  I was not particularly interested in accounting, but at that time I was told there was a shortage of accountants and that the pay would be good.  So, I got my degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting.  I worked my way through school by apprenticing as an optician during the day under my father, a third-generation optician, and also under my grandfather, a second-generation optician.  I would leave work at the end of the day and take my accounting classes at night.  The company I worked at was started by my Great...

VIDEO: How To Choose the Right Sunglasses For Your Sport

I would like to introduce my first video for Introwellness.  It covers just about everything you need to know on choosing the right sunglasses for your sport. Transitions Academy

I am all about continuing my optical education, which is why this cold Oklahoma February seemed like good time for a conference. A conference somewhere warm and sunny perhaps. I have to give Transitions props for hosting this event in the beautiful Rosen Shingle Creek hotel in sunny Orlando, FL. This place is beautiful! I am looking forward to the rest of my trip, and I plan...

Blac - Wayne

Eric is our Face of The Week. He's wearing a pair of super-thin titanium sunglasses from the Blac collection by Bellinger, a Danish frame company that features lightweight frames with adjustable carbon-fiber temples and either titanium or 3D printed fronts. Eric is wearing the Wayne, a modified aviator-style, sometimes called a Navigator, shape that wraps just enough to provide a good amount of coverage without distorting the classic double-bar look. The lenses are brown with a gold flash-mirror, a slick look that is set off nicely by the gold of the hinge sections on either side. Looking good, Eric!
