Fort Greene by Born In Brooklyn Spectacle Company

A couple of months ago I wrote a blog about this sunglass called Fort Green by the Born In Brooklyn Spectacle Co.  I like this frame so much I felt compelled to feature it again, only in a different color this time.  The Fort Greene frame was named after a Brooklyn neighborhood which is lined with trees, and filled with hip bars and indie shops.  It is also home to the Brooklyn Academy of music.  Choose from three rich colors including the color I am wearing in the above picture, which is called Champagne-Dark Tortoise.  The champagne color on the front is a great neutral, and it pairs quite well with the dark tortoise temples.  Add the iconic silver hinge...

Maui Jim Hula Blues

New limited edition Hula Blues Maui Jim sunglasses are here.  This is a collab that I was super excited to learn about.  Maui Jim has teamed up with a small independent eyewear brand out of Hungary called Vinylize that makes eyewear by handcrafting vinyl records into eyewear frames.  How cool is that!  The inlay of this limited-edition frame is detailed with artwork inspired from the original 1923 sheet music booklet from the original Hula Blues song written by Sony Cunha and John Avery Noble back in 1919.  You can find it on YouTube, and if you are planning a luau themed backyard party this summer you should definitely include it on the playlist.  Check out the video at the bottom...

Maui Jim Kawika in Blue Hawaii

Every once in a while Maui Jim, known for their great polarized lenses and generally more conservative designs and colors, creates a super fun design and color combo.  The Kawika is a classic clubman style frame that can look dressy or casual in the black color, but the Kawika has been released in a new color that is more trendy and fun.  This new color is crystal acetate and features Maui Jim’s Blue Hawaii lens.  For those of you that not familiar with Blue Hawaii, it is the newest Maui Jim lens that features a vibrant blue mirror.  If you haven’t tried the Blue Hawaii yet, I would suggest checking it out.  I would describe the color as being somewhere...

Éze by Leisure Society

This week I am going to keep things short and sweet.  I’m talking brow bar love!  Éze by Leisure Society is one of those classic styles that looks chic in either a sun or a clear optical frame.  For those of you who read last week’s blog I wrote about a style tip of converting sunglasses to clear optical glasses to create a unique look.  Éze’s look is created by sculpting solid blocks of titanium.  The 12k gold plating along the outer rim of the eyewire and brow bar shines a brilliant silver in the light, and this nicely contrasts with the matte black color of the front to seamlessly create a three-dimensional look that is classy and distinguished.  That...

Havelock by Leisure Society

My sunglass of the week is the Havelock by Leisure Society.  I believe everyone needs a good aviator sunglass in their collection.  It is one of those iconic styles that just looks great on so many people.  In a world of eyewear one of the standout brands for design and craftsmanship is Leisure Society by Shane Baum.  Hal Rubenstein wrote a nice article for Forbes magazine in which he talked to Shane about what makes Leisure Society special and unique.  In the article, Shane says, “I am trying to say this with as much modesty as I can.  Leisure Society glasses radiate luxury without ostentation and are among the best in the world.” The collection is made up of classic frame...
