Putting Your Transitions Lenses In The Freezer

Have you ever been told that Transitions lenses need to be put into the freezer in order to be “Activated”?  This myth just doesn’t seem to go away.  I first heard it about fifteen years ago, when one of my customers had asked me if their new Transitions lenses needed to be put in the freezer overnight in order to be activated.  I thought it sounded a little strange, but I checked it out and discovered it was not true.  I can’t remember the last time I got this question in my store, but I began thinking about it recently and a quick google search revealed a blog post with lots of comments from glasses wearers reporting that their optician...

Bianca by Sama Eyewear and Transitions Lenses

Michelle loves her new Sama Bianca eyeglasses with Transitions lenses! Today's featured frame is a pair of sunnies called Bianca by Sama Eyewear. We decided to turn them into a truly unique look by making them up with Transitions lenses. This allows them to be worn indoors or out, and changes this trendy thin metal style into a killer fashion statement. Transitions Academy

I am all about continuing my optical education, which is why this cold Oklahoma February seemed like good time for a conference. A conference somewhere warm and sunny perhaps. So today I arrived in Orlando for Transitions Academy. You know that cool technology that makes it possible for us to enjoy prescription lenses that darken in the sun? Transitions makes a nice variety of different kinds of photochromic lenses. I am here learning about those and other optical related areas of study. I have to give Transitions props for hosting this event in the beautiful Rosen Shingle Creek hotel in sunny Orlando, FL. This place is beautiful! I am looking forward to the rest of my trip, and I plan...
