Masunaga GMS-800
[GMS-800 by Masunaga]
This week I'm reviewing the GMS - 800 by Masunaga Optical. This style is one of those classic intellectual shapes that instantly evokes a scholarly look.
[Bill Sage in American Psycho]
This combination design with round plastic rims, a metal bridge, and metal temples seemed to rise to prominence in the 1980’s. This was referenced as part of the culture when actors Bill Sage and Christian Bale wore very similar looking glasses in the cult classic 2000 film American Psycho, which was a story set in Manhattan in the late 1980’s.

We think it looks devilishly sophisticated on model John Bivens, who wore it quite nicely at our last photo-shoot here in Tulsa.
The titanium bridge and hinges are solidly locked in place to the acetate rims with pins rather than screws. We love the look and we love that Masunaga quality. I have written more extensively about the history of Masunaga here for those who are interested.

Hello Giero, Thanks for pointing that out. It’s a little funny that all of these characters sort of look alike and act alike, so I’m not going to be too hard on myself for misidentifying the actor. I have since corrected the caption.
Best Wishes,
Daniel
Hi Hicks Brunson Eyeware
I might sound annoying but although you point out to Bale’s Oliver People’s O’Malley eyeglasses, the actor you are showing in the first pic above is Bill Sage, who played character Van Paten in the movie.
Just in case.
Best regards
Giero
