How it All Began

Hicks G. Brunson – American Optical location in Okmulgee, OK – Cir. 1923

Hicks G. Brunson came to Tulsa as a representative of American Optical Co. in 1929, and opened his own dispensary in the downtown Medical Arts building in 1950.

In 1952 he opened his second location at Utica Square.

In the 1960's Hicks Brunson Eyewear was a pioneer in being one of the first in the region to offer eyewear by designer names such as Christian Dior.

In 1988 our store was among the first to stock the new Giorgio Armani eyewear collection when it was launched, which was a pivotal moment in the history of eyewear.

In 2007 we launched our hallmark 'Bespoke' service with Tom Davies Eyewear in which we began custom designing frames.  Our opticians will take millimeter perfect measurements of your head, and then pick out colors to suit your natural coloring.

In March of 2010 we entered into a partnership with Youth Services of Tulsa. Each month we provide free eyeglasses to homeless teenagers and young adults in the transitional living program.

For more than sixty years and four generations, Hicks Brunson Eyewear continues to raise the standard of the eyewear market in North Eastern Oklahoma.  It is our mission to provide the finest independent and original eyewear combined with the highest levels of excellence in opticianry.

Community Giving

YouthServicesHappy_Version_2community1

Giving Back Since March of 2010, Hicks Brunson Eyewear has been providing free eyeglasses to homeless teenagers and young adults.  Your patronage allows us to continue this mission. An Impact On The Community By helping to restore the sight of homeless youth in our community, we give them the ability to return to work or school, and continue in the transitional living program which is designed to provide the skills and tools necessary to help transition successfully to adult life.  This makes a huge impact on their lives and on the community. How It Works Every month Youth Services of Tulsa identifies young adults within their assistance program who are in need of eyeglasses.  The young adults in the program are then directed to our store where we supply them with new glasses made just for them. ____________________________________________________________________________________

Partnering With The Lions Club Of Tulsa Changing Lives, One Pair at a Time In just about any dresser drawer, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person's life. Hicks Brunson Eyewear is an official drop off location for the Lions Clubs International Recycle for Sight program .While we have participated in the international program for many years, we are proud that we are now working directly with the Down Town Tulsa Lions club in a local initiative to change the lives of Tulsans in need of vision correction. This means that a majority of your donated glasses are now distributed locally to those in need. This is possible through a partnership with Neighbor For Neighbor and the clinic they organize in Tulsa to provide free eye exams. liosfg
