Style Trick: How To Create An Original Eyewear Look
A while back I wrote about the Melrose sunglass by Zero G. The Melrose is an acetate sunglass that features the famous Zero G titanium hinges. I won’t go into why the design is so well built on my post today, but for those of you interested you can take a look-see at my original post here.
Today I want to share a fun eyewear style trick with you. Are you ready for it? Take a cool sunglass frame and remove the dark lenses thus turning it into an optical frame.
It turns out that the Melrose frame makes a real sharp looking optical frame when you remove the sunglass lenses from it. So the next time you are looking for a unique optical frame, expand your search to sunglasses. Find a suitable shape and color for your coloring, and ask your optician helping you to remove the sunglass lenses. This is a trick I have used from time to time for my clients over the years, and it is a great way to come up with a unique look. I know of at least a few other eyecare professionals who use this same trick, including my friend and fellow blogger Dr. Jennifer Lyerly of the Eyedolatry Blog who recently spoke about this trick on her Defocus Media podcast.
You can also complement the look by adding Transitions lenses to your frame, because you know it already looks great as a sunglass. By doing that you will also be protecting your eyes from all that harmful UV and blue light.
So, the next time you go shopping for new eyewear remember this trick, and remember to check back here for more eyewear reviews and style tips.
