Masunaga GMS-106
In the Fall, I wrote about my fascination with the detailed design work of the Masunaga GMS-106 sunglass from the GMS series. Read that post here. It is from a series that pays tribute to all the great eyewear designs that were around at the time of Masunaga’s founding in the early 1900’s.
This frame makes a killer sunglass, boys and girls, but I am absolutely loving it as an optical frame. Fortunately, Masunaga loved it too as an optical frame and released it as such. This is the direction that eyewear design is trending. We are seeing many more thin metal designs than we did just a few years back. The GMS-106 is noteworthy for the beautiful engraving details and the thin acetate trim pieces on the bridge and temples. That brow bar that dips down above the bridge is quite nice too.
